This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and highly skilled leader to guide this small organisation's mahi and champion the outcomes this sector deserves.
New Zealand Disability Support Network (NZDSN) is a national network - an incorporated society of over 170 member (predominantly not-for-profit) organisations - that provide support services to disabled people. They're driven by their vision of an inclusive New Zealand where all disabled people are included and valued, their human rights are promoted and protected, and they are supported and encouraged to maximise their potential.
With an energetic and engaged board, the organisation is focused on developing sustainable pathways, workforce development and systems transformation - advocating for the sector as they continue to strive for social changes that are focused on achieving inclusive lives and active citizenship for disabled people.
We're now seeking a Chief Executive to lead this organisation and drive this important mahi on behalf of the Network, a vital voice and advocate in the disability sector.
While you'll have strong strategic capability, you'll also have broad organisational leadership abilities to work across all facets of organisational operations. A strong passion and affinity for the sector is a must, given you will be the face of the Network nationwide, and advocating for the sector at every opportunity.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- a demonstrable, clear, and proven commitment and passion for social justice
- proven and demonstrable understanding of the mechanics of government and wider health sector funding
- extensive senior leadership experience within the health or social services environment
- outstanding communication skills and importantly, the ability to both appeal to, and work alongside, people from all corners of our society
- demonstrable ability to persuade and influence at all levels
- strong and practical advocacy skills
- outstanding relationship and stakeholder management skills
- a strong level of media savvy.
It's our preference that you have proven experience as a Chief Executive, or if not, this is quite clearly the next step in your career.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for a savvy senior leader within the social services/NGO sector to further enhance their career, while championing, networking, facilitating, and representing disability support organisations, and ultimately, the disabled people of Aotearoa.
