Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) is the professional body that represents more than 128,000 finance professionals across Australia and New Zealand. It protects and promotes the Chartered Accountant (CA) designation, provides thought leadership and ongoing professional development options for members and advocates for the profession. It has offices in New Zealand (Auckland, Hamilton,
Wellington and Christchurch) the Australia states and Singapore, Hong King, Kuala Lumpur and London.
The Public Affairs/Media Relations Manager will develop and implement corporate affairs strategies and manage media relations and reputational risk within New Zealand. They will also be responsible for stakeholder management; internal communications; speechwriting and developing content for a range of channels including digital and online. They will be part of a five-person team largely based in Australia and report to the Sydney based General Manager Corporate Affairs. The team works collaboratively together so for this role 70% of the work supports New Zealand with the remainder supporting Australia and the other international offices.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced communications professional who has worked in a corporate or agency environment. They will have proven media and issues management experience and strong business media networks. They will be a self-starter who can identify and promote proactive story opportunities. They will also have a sound understanding of New Zealand’s business and political landscape, and the ability to grow and manage stakeholder relationships within these spheres. Strong written and oral communication skills are vital, as is experience in developing and delivering strategic communications plans. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using a range of channels, including social media.
