Tēnei te reo karanga o Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu!

We're looking for an enthusiastic Researcher/Writer to join our Whakapapa team in this newly created role to support the digitalisation of Whakapapa Ngāi Tahu.

The primary roles of Whakapapa Ngāi Tahu are to ensure the mana and integrity of the Tribal Register and the Registration processes are maintained, and whānau understanding and value of whānau, hapū and iwi whakapapa is enhanced and readily accessible.

The unit now seeks to enhance Ngāi Tahu whānau awareness and value of their whakapapa through the creation of a secure on-line Whakapapa Research Portal/Web Site. As a researcher you will be expected to obtain relevant data and information with Whakapapa Ngāi Tahu methodologies and sources, inclusive of kanohi-ki-te-kanohi engagement with whānau.

A key aspect of this position will support our role in upholding the validity and accessibility of whakapapa stories of the past in a new digital world.

We are looking for a skilled writer and digital-savvy individual with:

- 2 years' experience in a writing/editing position

- Proven experience working with digital content and/or in a website development environment

- Excellent written, editing and verbal communication skills

- Strong research skills with attention to detail

- Familiarity with the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to the work of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu

- A passion to work and engage with Papatipu Rūnanga and Ngāi Tahu whānau

The successful applicant will have a strong affinity for the needs and aspirations of our ultimate stakeholders, Ngāi Tahu whānui. Alongside this, they will have an understanding of, or an eagerness to learn and engage with Ngāi Tahu values and te reo Māori. Ka tika!
