Matatū Aotearoa | Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand is the professional body for teachers and provides direction for the teaching profession from early childhood education through primary and secondary schooling in English and Māori medium settings. Matatū Aotearoa is an organisation that honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Mō te tūranga | About the role:
In the role of Registration Officer, you will assess and process applications for teacher registration, practising certificates and Limited Authorities to Teach (LAT’s) and ensure teachers meet the Council standards, policies, and legislation.
You will maintain regular contact with teachers, principals and professional leaders and provide high-quality advice and guidance on registration and certification processes.
You will also work closely with the Registration Manager and Registration Team Leaders by providing recommendations of outcomes for each application and escalating complex applications when required.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a genuine passion for helping others and enjoy working in an engaging team. You will also have the ability to work in a methodical and accurate manner,
come with excellent customer service skills and have strong attention to detail.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will come with the following attributes:
- Have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area.
- Basic understanding of the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020 relating to teacher registration and certification and the Council’s Registration Policy.
- Strong competency of Tikanga, Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Te Reo Māori would be an advantage.
- Minimum 1 year of previous experience in a service provision role in the public or private sector.
- Experience using all applications within the Microsoft Office suite including Teams and Planner and intermediate to advanced level of knowledge of Excel.
- Attention to detail with experience in dealing with high volumes of processing data.
- Ability to work both independently on own initiative and as an effective member of a team.
