- Demonstrates strong evidence-based practice in the fields of Electrophysiology and / or Devices
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of types and mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias
- Demonstrates a high level of clinical reasoning,
with the ability to analyse complex clinical and technical information to identify the problem and make appropriate clinical decisions based on the findings.
- Communicates and documents comprehensively and effectively.
- Provides expert technical support to others and undertakes complex clinical trouble shooting both locally and for other regions
- Investigates and alerts others to learnings from local experience, relevant journal articles and international guidelines
- Undertakes complex trouble shooting in relation to materials and equipment used for investigations and proceduresMō tō mātou rōpū - About our teamThe Cardiology Service is a Secondary and Tertiary service provided for Health New Zealand, Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley (CC & HV) and those of the central region of New Zealand.
Cardiology at CC & HV includes :
- Outpatient Clinics
- Cardiac Diagnostic Testing
- The Heart and Lung Unit
- Cardiac Interventional Suite, providing the following procedures : Coronary Angiograms
- Left & right heart studies
- Coronary intervention and CTO
- Balloon Valvuloplasty and TAVI
- PFO / ASD / LAA Closure
- Pacing, ICD and CRT implants
- Electrophysiology Studies, 3D mapping and AblationCardiac Physiology Service includes :
- Pacing / ICD follow-up service, including remote monitoring and travelling clinics
- Cath Lab, Device Implants and Electrophysiology
- Echocardiography
- Exercise Tolerance Testing
- Ambulatory monitoring- Holters, Events & BP
- Electrocardiography
- Training of Provisional Cardiac Physiologists, Cardiac Physiology Technicians and other Health Care staffClinical Physiology provides a full range of diagnostic testing as an integral part of the Cardiology Service.
The CC & HV Cardiology Service is accredited as an SCT training facility.Moū - About youSomeone well-suited to the role will place a high value on the following :

- At least 9 years post graduate experience
- Practice and further training has been completed, demonstrating a high level of clinical competence in a specialty area, EP and / or Devices.
- Ability to teach, lead & and mentor developing staff in area of specialityEssential Professional Qualifications / Accreditations / Registrations :
- Current Annual Practising Certificate
- Membership of SCT
- Post Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Technology
- International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) and / or The Cardiac Electrophysiology Institute of Australasia (CEPIA)
