About the role
We are seeking an experienced Theatre Nurse to join our dedicated team at Thorndon Eye Clinic in Wellington, working around 16 hours per week. As a Theatre Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our surgeons during ophthalmic procedures. Some of the role will be needed at our satellite clinics in Lower Hutt and Kapiti at times.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting surgeons during a variety of eye procedures, including oculoplastic surgery, intravitreal injections, laser procedures and minor eyelid surgery.
- Preparing and maintaining the operating theatre, ensuring a sterile and organised environment
- Monitoring patient vital signs and providing exceptional nursing care throughout procedures
- Accurately documenting patient records and maintaining meticulous attention to detail
- Collaborating with the wider healthcare team to ensure the smooth running of the theatre
- Adhering to all health and safety protocols and maintaining a safe working environment
What we're looking for
- Registered Nurse with a valid Practicing Certificate
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in a theatre or surgical setting (ideally in Ophthalmology)
- Excellent clinical skills and a deep understanding of aseptic technique
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with the medical team
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- A commitment to providing the highest standard of patient-centered care
