Position: Senior Legal Counsel- Litigation Division: The Johnson Group Job Type: Permanent Location: Wellington - Central Ref#: MTH62960 Posted: 7 October 2024 Close off: 14 October 2024 Salary: $97,000 to $125,000 Our government client is looking for a legal professional to hit the ground running!
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in litigation, with a focus on senior-level responsibilities.
You will join a small proceedings team consisting of a Senior Legal Counsel, Legal Counsel, and one administrative staff member (a team of 4).
The role requires someone who can independently conduct litigation with health practitioners and manage human rights reviews.

Your Skills & Experience: 5 years + PQE Experience in undertaking and managing litigation at senior level Excellent research and writing skills Ability to solve complex issues/cases Carry a New Zealand practicing certificate, or having the ability to obtain one on commencement Analytical and Critical thinking Our client offers benefits such as 4 weeks of annual leave, 10 days of sick leave, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by caring about human rights in New Zealand through the work we do.
Initially, you'll spend 2 to 3 months in the office to get to know the team, and once settled, you'll have the flexibility to work 2 to 3 days in the office.
