This is a senior role in the Compliance and Enforcement team, working on the frontline to spearhead OPC’s regulatory response both at an agency and at a system-wide level.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner is Aotearoa New Zealand’s privacy regulator, protecting the taonga that is personal information. It is our mahi to identify and address systemic and population-scale privacy issues, increase good privacy practice, and champion the privacy rights of all New Zealanders.
We work in partnership with Māori to take a te ao Māori perspective on privacy and engage and empower people and communities who are more vulnerable to serious privacy harm.
Ko tā mātou mahi – the role
We are looking for an experienced regulator to join our Compliance and Enforcement team. This is a 12-month fixed term role in our Wellington office.
As an experienced regulator, you’ll bring:
- enjoy navigating complexity in a regulatory environment
- excellent written communication skills
- around 4 years’ experience working in a regulatory context
Privacy experience is not a pre-requisite but an interest in privacy is. If you have an understanding or experience working on IT system or cyber security, even better, but don’t be put off applying if that’s not the case.
